SCP-101222

Object Class: Safe

Containment Status: Not contained, in order to use anomalous properties for Foundation merit. The subject is in possession of a foundation-made tracker, allowing constant monitoring of its position.

Object Description: The subject appears to be in the shape of a typical black house cat (Felis Catus), but has the ability to stand on its hind legs and use its front paws in the manner of human hands, with opposing thumbs fully capable to hold objects. It is able to speak standard English with no discernable accent. When entering a radius of 5 [five] feet around the subject, its anomalous properties start to manifest. The observers begin to feel as if time is slowing down and describe hearing distant chanting accompanied by instruments.
All pieces of currency the observers had on their bodies before the encounter are removed and tests indicate that all manners of trying to prevent this are futile. Instead, the observers will find themselves in the possession of small golden tokens, which are referred to as [DATA EXPUNGED] by the subject. The number of tokens observers get when they meet the subject for the first time is not constant, instead varying between 2 to 4 tokens in preliminary tests, though further tests are needed.
The subject will then offer the observers certain items which are needed or desired by one or more of the observers, matters by which they were obtained are unclear and oftentimes are highly improbable. These items can be acquired by giving the subject a certain number of tokens, which is often unrealistically low compared to the real value of the items. Additionally, objects in the observers posession can be exchanged for tokens, though exchange rates have not been tested sufficiently as of now.
After refusing to trade, leaving the radius or waiting for 3 [three] hours the anomalous effect will subside, replacing the tokens with the amount of currency the observers had before the encounter. The amount of tokens appears to stay constant per person each time they are in the vicinity of the subject. When asked about different existing currencies, the subject claims to have no knowledge, instead suggesting that the tokens are universal and used by every "traveller".

After the subject was discovered passing through Site-⬛️⬛️ and interacting with personnel, it was brought into a containment chamber in order to test it's abilities. The subject calls itself ⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️, referring to itself with no concrete gender, describing its activities as travelling and trading. The Foundation was able to obtain highly useful items, including information about anomalous entities and objects, containment utilities and even anomalous entities that had formerly breached containment at different Sites, simply through "trading" with the subject.
Attempts at containing it proved unsuccessful, the subject refused to "trade" after being contained for 24 [twenty-four] hours and was found wandering through a hallway on the other side of the complex shortly after, claiming that it "had to travel to be able to trade" and that it "got bored and decided to continue on [it's] way", with no further explanation as to how it was able to breach containment.
The O5-Council decided that it would be the most useful for the Foundation if it was allowed to roam freely, in order to continue "trading" with it.
To ensure this, a tracker was offered to the subject, under the claim that it was an important piece of art. The subject accepted this, in exchange for 6 [six] tokens and has continued to take the device with it, inadvertently allowing the Foundation to be able to "trade" with it whenever needed and eventually retrieve it, if deemed absolutely necessary.
